Mike + the Mechanics
Mike + the Mechanics was a British band formed in 1985 as a side project of Mike Rutherford (founding member of the band Genesis). During a Genesis Hiatus, Rutherford tried his hand at a solo career, but discovered he preferred the collaboration of other musicians. Other band member names you might recognize included Paul Carrack and Paul Young.
Their first studio release, Mike + the Mechanics (1985), was a big success for the band, ultimately resulting in three hits in the top 40: "Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)", "All I Need is a Miracle", and "Taken In". Their follow up release, The Living Years, featured the hit international title track. The band continued producing and charting in the UK throughout the 1990's.
In one form or another, Mike and the Mechanics has continued well into the 2010's, both in the studio and on the stage. At the time of this writing in late 2013, the band's latest release was The Road in 2011. The Mike + the Mechanics Discography is as follows:
