Steelheart Hair Metal Band

Steelheart is one of our favorite bands here at ilovethe80s.com.  We concede that the band was not technically part of the 1980's, but for a metal band, they made the most of the early 1990's.  Steelheart was a Connecticut band that started out as a band called "Red Alert".  After recording a demo tape that caught the attention of MCA Records, the band realized that "Red Alert" was taken, so they settled on the name "Steelheart", which they considered a representation of their tenacity towards making it big.

Steelheart's 1990 self-titled release sold over 33,000 copies in Japan on its first day, and the band continued as a huge it overseas well into the 1990's.  Many of you will remember the songs "She's Gone" and "I Will Never Let You Go (Angel Eyes)", "Can't Stop Me Lovin' You", and "Everybody Loves Eileen" from this album.  "Angel Eyes" was the second most requested video on MTV that season.

The band's 1992 release, Tangled in Reins, did not do as well, but did feature the hit song "Mama Don't You Cry".  During a tour with Slaughter in 1992, the leader singer of Steelheart was involved in a stage accident that side lined the band until 1996.  Their 1996 release, Wait, was a bit of a departure from their earlier sound, but continued to fuel their popularity overseas.  This album even landed them a stint in the soundtrack for the Mark Wahlberg movie Rock Star (2001).

Over the several years (2006, 2008), Steelheart has continued producing new music.  At the time of this writing, the Steelheart Discography was as follows:
