Sven Gali started out as a cover band in Ontario, Canada around 1987. After they began mixing things up with original material and playing some gigs in NYC, BMG Canada gave them a record deal. They released their debut (self-titled) in 1992, which did well in Canada (Gold status). The band's four videos received heavy rotation on Canada's answer to MTV (called Much Music).

After two Juno Award Nominations in 1993, the band began work on a follow-up album. Inwire was released in 1995 and was a completely different album than their first. Fans of the band's first album did not take well to the new grunge sound, and Sven Gali disbanded in 1996. However, to stay in business, this change is understandable. Sven Gali has reunited from time to time for a few shows (the last one we are aware of being in 2009). The Sven Gali Discography is as follows:
