London's Steve Jones, who was the guitarist for the Sex Pistols, also had a solo career in the late 80's (at least for a few albums). He is considered by many, including Rolling Stone magazine, to be one of the greatest guitarist of all time. His gig with the Sex Pistols ended in 1978 when the band broke up. Other groups Jones was affiliated with at some point during his career included names like Thin Lizzy, Joan Jett, Billy Idol, Andy Taylor, and even Megadeth.

His first solo release, titled Mercy (1987), was a rock album. It was his second release, Fire and Gasoline, which puts him in the heavy metal section of this site. It is a hard edged album, much harder than its predecessor, and features Steve Jones on both vocals and guitar.
