Strangeways Hair Metal Band

Strangeways was an impressive, melodic Scottish hard rock/heavy metal act that formed in 1985.  We did not learn about Strangeways until after the 80's were long passed, which is unfortunate considering they are one of our favorites to come out of that decade.  They released their first album (self-titled) in 1986 with Tony Liddell on vocals.  By their second release (Native Sons), an American took over vocal duties, and by their third release (Walk In the Fire), they put founding member and guitarist Ian Stewart on vocal duties.

Even though the band did not have continuity between releases in regard to their vocalist, each one of their early albums is very good.  They had some very good ballads as well, such as the songs "So Far Away" and "Goodnight L.A.".  In many ways, the music of Strangeways is more AOR than metal, but we included them here because they are still a bit heavier than most bands we feature in the rock section.  They have been compared more closely to bands like Journey or Survivor.  As the years went on, however, their productions have been less and less like their 80's releases.  At the time of this writing, the Strangeways Discography was as follows:
